    4 Must Do Fall Activities

It's that lovely time of year again! Fall is upon us and now that the weather is cooling down it's the perfect time to be outdoors . In order to celebrate this wonderful season we decided to put together a list of fall activities that you can enjoy with friends and family.

    Harvest of Harmony Parade

Located in Grand Island, the Harvest of Harmony Parade has been a traditional fall activity since 1963. The parade is the largest in Nebraska. High School and Junior High bands come from all over the state come to participate in the parade held on the first saturday of October. This year it will be held on October 3rd and the theme will be “Superhero Adventures …What’s Your Superpower?”. We recommend watching the parade with a nice warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate in hand.

    Lauritzen Gardens

Fall is the perfect time to check out the Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha. The garden is home to many plants and trees that look gorgeous in the fall. The gardens also host a variety of fall themed events such as the Fall Chrysanthemum Show, the Japanese Ambiance Festival as well as the Ghoulish Garden Adventure.  All events are free with general admission to the gardens. Adults are $10, children age 6-12 are $5 and children under 6 are free.

    Camp Fontanelle Corn Maze

The Corn Maze is located just outside of Fontanelle and operates every weekend from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm between September 15th and November 3rd. The 9 acre corn maze is family friendly and offers activities such as scavenger hunts, hayrides, zip lining, and pony rides. On October 24, 30 and 31 it becomes the scary corn maze from 7pm -10pm and may not be appropriate for those who are easily scared. At dusk the corn maze shows free outdoor scary movies on a big screen. Visitors can bring lawn chairs and s'mores and sit around a campfire while watch the movie.

    Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is a German tradition that’s celebrated in Nebraska with parades, traditional german food, and live music. Oktoberfest celebrations can be found all over the state with dates ranging from mid-September to mid-October. The celebrations are a great way to enjoy the mild fall weather and notable celebrations can be found in Omaha, Kearney and Lincoln.
