Summer eating is great at Chef John's campsite!  Below is a super recipe for Stuffed Turkey burgers.  I can think of so many combinations of seasonings and different cheeses and toppings.  This is a good basic start to wherever your imagination takes you when it comes time to grill at the camper!

    Stuffed Turkey Burgers

These turkey burgers are a favorite at our house. They are easy to make and  are also very budget friendly as ground turkey is around half the cost of ground beef. Here’s our favorite version.

2-3 lbs 85-93% lean ground turkey

4-6 oz. kraft habanero block cheese ( or other block cheese ).

Your favorite seasoning(s) if wanted …..I like to use pork barrel seasoning.

Mix ground turkey and seasoning well.

Form a large burger patty and spread pretty thin and place 2-3 strips of cheese around the middle.

Form another similar burger patter and place on top of other patty and form the edges together to keep the cheese between the patties.

Grill on a gas or charcoal grill at 300 degrees for 8-10 minutes each side.

I usually grill my buns as well face down on the grill the last 10 minutes or so. Spray butter works well to brown them.

Serve with usual burger fixen’s …….guacamole is a perfect addition to these turkey burgers.
